Demand for Facial Plastic Surgery Rises as Pandemic Continues
2022 / 02 / 28
As in-person events and face-to-face socialization resumed in 2021 with pandemic precautions, demand for facial plastic surgery and aesthetic procedures has catapulted. Per the 2021 member survey for The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), the world`s largest association of facial plastic surgeons, the number of surgical and non-surgical facial plastic surgery treatments has increased dramatically in the last year. An estimated 1.4 million surgical and non-surgical procedures have been done in the past year, with plastic surgeons performing an average of 40% more procedures than they did in 2020. Furthermore, 83% of AAFPRS surgeons saw an increase in bookings over the last year (up from 70% in 2020). Surgical procedures (rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty) are the most common procedures as part of this upsurge, but the demand for non-surgical treatments grew as well. After almost two years of canceled plans, minimal makeup, and overanalyzing their ZOOM reflections, men and women are ready to regain confidence and shake off the pandemic blues. 92% of AAFPRS surgeons agree that this surge of interest in facial plastic surgery is due to increased patient free time and flexibility to recover from treatments, as many patients are still working from home or now have a hybrid workplace option. Increased disposable income due to the money-saving benefits of staying in has also contributed to increased interest. According to 89% of respondents, the [ZOOM Effect" and social media have also impacted these numbers, as patients are seeing their reflections and comparing themselves to others, and finding things they`d like to change. 79% of facial plastic surgeons identify patients seeking procedures for an improved appearance on video conferencing as a rising trend, compared to only 16% the previous year.

Different from hyaluronic acid or collagen protein injection, which are both physical filling. The mechanism of action occurs through the stimulation of fibroblasts in response to a subclinical tissular inflammation. It is this fibroplasia that produces the desired cosmetic result. New collagen begins to form after one month and continues to increase for nine months to a year. In the sixth month, many PLLA microspheres become porous and surrounded by macrophages. After this period there is no evidence of fibrosis and the PLLA particles disappear. The product`s degradation occurs through non-enzymatic hydrolysis into lactic acid monomers that are metabolized into CO2, H2O or incorporated into glucose. With its half-life estimated at 31 days, PLLA is totally eliminated from the body in about 18 months. The effect can be seen after injection for 2-3 weeks. However, the duration effect can be as long as 24 months or above. It is suitable for increasing the volume of depressed areas, particularly to correct skin depressions, such as in skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars and for skin aging. Injectable PLLA is also suitable for large volume corrections of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy). Edit by Bella
What should you do to do skin care?
2022 / 02 / 22
The Perfect 9-Step Skincare Routine: 1. Wash your face. Morning and night, rinse your face water and rub a small amount of gentle cleanser between clean palms. Massage face wash all over your face using gentle pressure. 2. Apply toner. If you use toner, apply after cleansing your face and before everything else. Pour a few drops of toner into your palms or a cotton pad and gently swipe onto your face. 3. Apply serum. Morning is a great time to use a serum with antioxidants-like a brightening vitamin C serum-because they protect your skin from free radicals you`ll encounter throughout the day. Nighttime is a good time to use a moisturizing serum with hyaluronic acid, which keeps your skin from drying out at night, especially if you`re using anti-aging or acne treatments that can irritate and dry out the skin. 4. Apply eye cream. You can apply regular moisturizer to your under-eye area, but if you decide to use a specialized eye cream, you`ll typically want to layer it underneath moisturizer, since eye creams tend to be thinner than face moisturizers. 5. Use spot treatment. It`s a good idea to use acne spot treatments at night, when your body is in repair mode. 6. Moisturize. Moisturizer both hydrates skin and locks in all the other layers of product you`ve applied. 7. Apply retinoid. Retinoids (vitamin A derivatives including retinol) can reduce dark spots,

FACE One of the most common signs of facial ageing is loss of volume, sagging skin, hanging jowls and double chin. A youthful face looks resembles a triangle that is wider at the top and narrow at the chin, with full, rounded cheeks that are high up on the face. As the face ages, the triangle reverses (like a pyramid), the fat pads under the eyes shift down to the mid-cheek area along the nose, contours of the face are flattened, skin becomes lax and jowls are droopy. SKIN Your skin is constantly changing and evolving, and over time you may require a variety of different treatments effective at treating blemishes and pigmentation to keep your skin looking healthy. With advances in cosmetic surgery and non-surgical treatments being made all the time, you can now expect the latest techniques and shorter recovery time. BODY Body Contouring is an extremely popular aesthetic procedure and achieves what it says. It gives you the shape you desire. At Aesthetica, the world is your oyster with multiple non-surgical body contouring treatments (Injection Lipolysis, Accent Radiofrequency + Ultrasound, ZLipo Cryolipolysis, ZWave Shockwave and RioBlush Carbon Dioxide) customized for each patient to address their specific concerns. Expert practitioners in attendance specialize in total body transformations.

Injectable Dermal Fillers Not Only Fill, but Lift!
2022 / 02 / 15
Injectable dermal fillers provide a minimally invasive approach to reducing facial lines and wrinkles and restore volume to the face. Due to their popularity and benefits, plastic surgeons are finding ways to maximize the benefits. A recent study suggests that dermal fillers provide varying degrees of lifting and volumizing effects for each patient. The use of cadavers has been a huge help for plastic surgeons who are maximizing fillers. Scans were taken of the cadavers after dermal fillers were injected and showed significant increases in local soft tissue volume in central areas of the face. By targeting these areas, the facial injections provided local lifting effects, however, the benefits were extremely localized with no accompanying regional effects. But, when dermal fillers were injected in lateral areas such as the temple, mid-face, and jawline, the fillers not only created localized lifting but also regional lifting in neighboring areas of the face. With these findings, plastic surgeons are seeing the importance of combined injection techniques to provide larger benefits for their patients. For example, if a plastic surgeon added a deep filler injection and a temple injection, the technique provided an additional 17.5 percent increase in lifting the temple, plus a 100 percent increase in lifting the jawline. The results have been consistent with previous knowledge surrounding the in-depth anatomy of the face and the fact that fillers can change the tension of fascia (connective tissue) under the skin and reposition upper-skin layers. While these techniques aren`t permanent, just like with other dermal fillers, they provide minimally invasive lifting effects that can be repeated as the patient sees fit.
What Age Should You Get Fillers?
2022 / 02 / 15

Dermal Fillers (Soft Tissue Fillers)
2022 / 02 / 11
Poly L-lactic acid is a biodegradable material with good big-absorbability and bio-compatibility. It degraded in the body, the final substance changed into carbon dioxide and water out of the body, so there are no side effects. Widely used in the field of medicine. Through the dermis, subcutaneous tissue of injection can stimulate to produce collagen and proliferate elastic fiber, effectively improve the slack skin, wrinkles, depression and other skin problems. Dermal fillers, also known as injectable implants, soft tissue fillers, lip and facial fillers, or wrinkle fillers are medical device implants approved by the FDA for use in helping to create a smoother and/or fuller appearance in the face, including nasolabial folds (the lines extending from the sides of the nose to the edges of the mouth), cheeks, chin, lips, and back of the hands. Since some dermal fillers are naturally absorbed over time, patients may need to repeat the procedure after some time to maintain the desired effect. Successful results will depend on the underlying tissue structure and the volume and type of filler used. The time that the effect lasts depends on the filler material and the area where it is injected. Edit by Chris
What is a cannula? And what does it have to do with dermal fillers?
2022 / 02 / 10
A cannula in this context is a blunt-tipped, hollow tube that functions as an alternative to a needle when administering dermal fillers. Dermal fillers (such as those sold under the Juvéderm brand name) have traditionally been administered using sharp-tipped needles. While both methods of injection have their roles, the approach of using blunt-tipped cannulas offers several benefits to the patient not previously possible using sharp needles. How does the cannula method work? Whether using a cannula or needle, it is imperative to first make a full assessment of every patient who presents for treatment, analyzing each individual`s facial structure and overall loss of volume before administering any dermal filler or botulinum toxin product. The conversation starts by asking what the patient`s primary concerns are and, from there, discussing what products and methods are best suited to achieve his or her desired results. Often, what is bothering the patient is an area that would benefit from increasing volume in the face overall, not necessarily in the location of the worrisome area. Using the cannula method works especially well in these cases, as it allows the injector to replace lost volume as needed throughout the face using only a few punctures with a tiny introducer needle. With the cannula method, a small introducer needle is used to create an entry point for the cannula. The cannula is then inserted into the puncture site and maneuvered alo

Injectable PMMA dermal filler: Polymethylmethacrylate beads (PMMA microspheres): PMMA is a non-biodegradable, biocompatible, man-made polymer. This material is used in other medical devices, such as bone cement and intraocular lenses. PMMA beads are tiny, round, smooth particles that are not absorbed by the body. When used as soft tissue filler, PMMA microbeads are suspended in a gel-like solution that contains cow (bovine) collagen and injected into the face. Collagen is a type of protein that is a major part of skin and other tissues in the body. The composition of collagen gel provides immediate volume and lift to correct wrinkles and acne scars. Once collagen is absorbed, PMMA microspheres stay in place and create a base that provides structural support for smoother-looking skin.

Differences between Botox and fillers
2022 / 01 / 20
For skin beauty treatment without surgery injectables are very popular! Injectables are substances inserted into the skin with a needle, that support muscles or plump up the skin, lessening the appearance of wrinkles. Botox and fillers are two types of injectables, which are both injected with a needle. The biggest difference between Botox and fillers is that Botox is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles, fillers on the other hand will fill in wrinkles. Injections with Botox and fillers act differently, but have some things in common: It`s a minimal invasive procedure, which have nearly no downtime It`s an alternative for a surgical procedure, so that a facelift may be delayed With both Botox and fillers a natural result may be achieved. Therefore you should visit an experienced doctor You might need a small touch up a month after the injection. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BOTOX AND FILLERS Botox FILLERS

People pay special attention to the development of medical biomaterials
2022 / 01 / 20
In the huge variety of new materials, people pay special attention to the development of medical biomaterials. Because it is closely related to human health and medical care. Medical biomaterials refer to various substitutes that are non-pharmaceutical, tissues or organs that can enhance or replace organisms. Artificial biomaterials must not only withstand the physical and chemical properties of the test, but also must be compatible with the organism. Therefore, besides having the structure and performance similar to human tissue, non-toxic and harmless, medical biomaterials must be compatible with human tissues without rejection. Over the past 30 years, scientists, engineers, and doctors have worked together to successfully study many biomedical materials. From artificial bones and muscle systems to artificial hearts and blood vessels, new results have emerged from artificial skin to artificial blood. At the same time, it has achieved success again and again in clinical applications. This cannot but be said to be a fruitful achievement of the advancement of science and technology and the development of materials science. With the development of science and technology, we believe that the future varieties of medical biomaterials will be more complete and the performance will be more in line with the requirements of the human body. In the future, if someone needs to replace one of the bones in the body due to injury, a ceramic artificial bone with exactly the same size and shape can be manufactured to replace the damaged bone, and even artificial muscle and skin can be implanted on the outside. In this way, after the patient recovers, he will become as strong as he was in the past. Similarly, the doctor will no longer have to worry about changing the liver, kidney, stomach, intestines, blood vessels and other organs of critically i
Poly l-lactic acid microparticles
2022 / 01 / 14
In August 2004, the US Food and Drug Administration approved a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)-based injectable medical device for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. As a result, the properties of the PLLA microparticles have received considerable interest from the medical community. Polylactides have a long-standing history of safe use in medical applications, such as pins, plates, screws, intra-bone and soft-tissue implants, and as vectors for sustained release of bioactive compounds. The L-isomer of polylactic acid is a biodegradable, biocompatible, biologically inert, synthetic polymer. Putatively, PLLA microparticles initiate neocollagenesis as a result of a normal foreign-body reaction to their presence. The build-up of collagen over time creates volume at the site of injection, while the PLLA microparticles are metabolized to carbon dioxide and water and expelled through the respiratory system. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the main ingredient in Reborn, a facial volume enhancer used for treating lipoatrophy of the cheeks. PLLA is used to stimulate collagen synthesis in fibroblasts via foreign body reaction in the presence of macrophages. Macrophages act as a stimulant in secretion of cytokines and mediators such as TGF-β, which stimulate the fibroblast to secrete collagen into the surrounding tissue. Therefore, PLLA has potential applications in the dermatological studies. Edit by Sharon
Injectable Poly-l-lactic Acid---Reborn PLLA Dermal Filler
2022 / 01 / 14
Poly l lactic acid is a synthetic dermal filler that is injected into your face, causing your body's own production of collagen. This type of dermal filler is known as a stimulator. This non-toxic, biodegradable substance has been used for more than 40 years as suture material. As we age, the fat, muscles, bone, and skin in our face begins to thin. This loss of volume leads to either a sunken or sagging appearance of the face. Injectable poly-l-lactic acid is used to create structure, framework, and volume to the face. PLLA is known as a bio-stimulatory dermal filler, this means it stimulates your own skin to produce new collagen. Over time your skin breaks down PLLA into water and carbon dioxide. The effects of PLLA appear gradually over a few months, producing natural results. What should first be done before considering injectable poly-l-lactic acid? First, an dermatologist will review the patient`s medical history and examine the condition to be treated. Areas to be treated should be kept clean. If there is a skin infection, then treatment needs to be postponed until it resolves. Patients who take blood thinners (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, certain herbal medications) should stop them two weeks prior to injection with the approval of their prescribing doctor. Your doctor will evaluate the areas of your face needing improvement in structure and/or volume. Topical or injection numbing medication may be used for added comfort prior to your procedure. For additional patient comfort lidocaine, an anesthetic, is mixed with PLLA prior to the treatment. Using a syringe, poly-l-lactic acid is injected into the hollow areas of your face and/or areas requiring improved structure. Mu

Worldwide, non-surgical treatments for facial aesthetics have increased in volume over the past decade. Many patients choose dermal fillers and botulinum toxin to improve their appearance and repair tissue loss. The volume of non-surgical treatments for facial aesthetics is also increasing in Asia. Although Asian populations differ markedly from those of the West in terms of culture, anatomy, ageing and aesthetics, most of the current research on facial injection regimens is that botulinum toxin and dermal fillers are two of the most popular treatments for age-related changes globally. A non-surgical cosmetic treatment, often used in combination. There are various fillers used for volume filling, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen, poly-L-lactic acid, and calcium hydroxyapatite. These fillers can be used for cheek and chin filling, rhinoplasty, mid-face plumping and lip plumping. To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, many people opt for botulinum toxin injections. Botulinum toxin relaxes certain muscles in the face, making wrinkles less noticeable for a while. Edit by Bella

Background The ever-expanding range of dermal filler products for aesthetic soft tissue augmentation is of benefit for patients and physicians, but as indications and the number of procedures performed increase, the number of complications will likely also increase. Objective To describe potential adverse events associated with dermal fillers and to provide structured and clear guidance on their treatment and avoidance. Methods Reports of dermal filler complications in the medical literature were reviewed and, based on the publications retrieved and the authors` extensive experience, recommendations for avoiding and managing complications are provided. Results Different dermal fillers have widely varying properties, associated risks, and injection requirements. All dermal fillers have the potential to cause complications. Most are related to volume and technique, though some are associated with the material itself. The majority of adverse reactions are mild and transient, such as bruising and trauma-related edema. Serious adverse events are rare, and most are avoidable with proper planning and technique. Conclusion For optimum outcomes, aesthetic physicians should have a detailed understanding of facial anatomy; the individual characteristics of available fillers; their indications, contraindications, benefits, and drawbacks; and ways to prevent and avoid potential complications.
